I would have preferred it to be a bit bigger. No issues with readability or angle of view (Don't hang it very high on the wall (hanging 8ft from the ground). It measures 8x12 and might look a bit smaller on large walls. I have for about 7 months now and it is working pretty great. Didn't have to change the battery for the clock on the receiver for the weather/temperature check.
My recommendation would be to think twice about buying this unit. This unit is supposed to come with a 1 year warranty, but so far the only on-line support I've gotten from LaCrosse was more instructions about using good batteries, waiting longer for the units to self-reset after batteries are removed, and spacing the units 5 feet apart with clear access between them. Of course, this didn't work either. This was a great unit and I really loved the way it worked and looked for the first 2 months. Even if LaCrosse makes good on their warranty at this point, the time and effort (and aggravation) I've invested to date isn't worth the purchase price. The batteries in the remote tested as brand new on a battery tester and a Fluke DMM. Then the the remote started indicating "low battery" on the clock and abruptly stopped working. Continual attempts to get them to re-sync with brand-new Duracell batteries in both units were a failure.
I just wish that they would have made the temperature printout as large as the clocks; so much easier to read from a distance,. This product is top of the line.
Curious to see how the outside temp sending unit holds up.Not sure why they put an alarm on it, controls all are on the back, no snooze button or light, so that feature is kinda worthless for our needs, but no harm either. It won't replace "weather on the 8's". And vise versa, but hey, I am not a weatherman and it looks nice mounted on the wall and makes perfect time and temperature so far.
Packaging and shipment great. I was lucky though, I actually read and followed the written instructions (new concept for me), if one doesn't do that, I can see how it might be tricky to get the clock going. We bought 2 of these, one for the guest bedroom and one for the office.
Understand that the "forecaster" measures barametric pressure trends, just like the old-style wall barameters, so if the display shows a rain cloud, that doesn't necessarily mean rain, it means lowering barametric pressure which is akin to rainy conditions. A 10-second backlight/button would be a nice adder.Overall I am pleased with the purchase, recommend at the on-sale price point ( The clocks are built well and look very nice, especially for the price.
Got both clocks working right away with atomic time and outside temp no problem.
This is the third clock like this I have purchased (2 for friends) and they are great, easy to setup and and super accurate.
